Similarities

Porcelain and ceramic are very similar in appearance. This similarity leads some homeowners to think that they have bought the same product. However, there are differences between porcelain and ceramic that would make you choose one over the other. So you must speak to our staff and see for yourself what those differences are. Speak to our team about your expectations, and they will be able to help you find what you want.

Porcelain

Porcelain comes from a high-quality clay called Kaolin. It is fired in a hot kiln, hotter than kilns for ceramic, resulting in high density and hardness. The clay creates a through-body color scheme that helps hide any chips or cracks that might occur. It is then glazed with a clear coat. This brings out the beauty in the tile.

Ceramic

Ceramic comes from the same type of clay as porcelain, but it has a few additional ingredients, like feldspar and sand. It, too, goes through a hot kiln to give it its density and hardness. However, the through-body color is not present. These tiles are glazed in glass to provide it with its beauty and waterproof nature. It can be made to match any décor that you have.
